Job summary

Five Star Solutions is seeking a Patient Billing Specialist to support patients with payment processing, insurance verification, and claims inquiries in a remote role across eligible states. The position emphasizes empathetic, accurate service while navigating healthcare billing systems and policies.

You will handle payment plans, educate patients on billing concepts, and ensure data integrity across EMR systems. Training is provided with full-time hours and benefits eligibility after 60 days.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in a call center or similar environment.
• Healthcare billing, insurance, or claims experience preferred.
• Payment processing or financial transaction experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; additional billing or healthcare education a plus.
• Technical proficiency with EMR systems and common software.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Must read, speak, and write English clearly.
• Background check required by law.

Responsibilities

• Process patient payments via phone in line with policies.
• Create, update, and maintain payment plans per guidelines.
• Ensure transaction accuracy, documentation, and data integrity.
• Explain claim notes, balances, and outcomes to patients.
• Verify and update insurance information in EMR and resubmit claims.
• Educate patients on COB, deductibles, coinsurance, copays, and denials.
• Identify issues and coordinate with teams to resolve billing problems.
• Research account history to determine root causes of billing concerns.
• Maintain professionalism and empathy in financial discussions.
• Use approved billing systems and EMR platforms; maintain privacy and security.
