Job summary

UnityPoint Health – Meriter in Madison, WI is seeking a Patient Access Representative to support accurate admissions, registration, insurance verification, and scheduling. This role requires attention to detail and compliance with financial and insurance requirements, with on-site training at Meriter before transitioning to remote work.

The position is 0.7 FTE (28 hours/week) with a schedule that includes rotating days and shifts; compensation starts at $18.32 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of customer service or healthcare related experience is preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collect, analyze, and record demographic, insurance, financial, and clinical data in the system, ensuring all required documentation is complete.
• Maintain strong knowledge of insurance plans and verification processes.
• Answer and route phone calls professionally; take accurate messages.
• Educate patients on financial obligations, including POS collections and estimates.
• Assist with patient self-service registration processes.
• Monitor and manage multiple work queues to ensure timely workflow.
• Refer patients who need financial assistance to a Financial Advocate.
• Schedule walk-in procedures and collaborate with central scheduling.
