Job summary

Ballard Spahr LLP is seeking a Patent Docketing Specialist to support its IP practice remotely. You will manage domestic and foreign patent docketing, review communications, and ensure timely deadlines while collaborating with attorneys and paralegals across offices.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of substantive patent docketing experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
• Strong understanding of USPTO rules, international patent procedures, deadlines, and national/regional phase requirements.
• Ability to analyze patent correspondence, calculate and verify deadlines, and escalate issues when needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain docketing databases for domestic and foreign patent matters with timely deadlines.
• Review communications regarding filing, prosecution, renewal, and PTAB matters to determine actions and due dates.
• Review foreign status and domestic patent status across multiple sources to ensure data accuracy.
• Prepare regular docket reports for clients, attorneys, paralegals, and assistants on schedule.
