Job summary

Ballard Spahr LLP is seeking a Patent Docketing Specialist to support the IP Practice. You will manage domestic and foreign patent prosecution docketing, ensure deadlines are met, and prepare routine docket reports.

The role is fully remote and requires 5-7 years of docketing experience, with a strong understanding of USPTO and international procedures. You will collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants, maintain accurate databases, and escalate discrepancies as needed while

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of substantive patent docketing experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
• Strong understanding of USPTO rules, international patent procedures, and national/regional phase requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college or business education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrative assistants to address patent-related issues in a timely manner.
• Maintain docketing databases for domestic and foreign patent prosecutions, entering and monitoring deadlines.
• Review actions and due dates from communications related to filing, prosecution, renewal and PTAB matters.
• Review websites to ascertain status of patents.
• Ensure docket database integrity and escalate discrepancies as needed.
• Prepare monthly/weekly docket reports for clients and attorneys.
• Assist with special projects as assigned by the Manager.
