Job summary

Nielsen is seeking a dedicated Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property Team on a permanent basis. The role involves drafting patent applications, prosecuting in-house under supervision, and working closely with engineers to build a world-class patent portfolio across AI, media, and data science domains.

The position is fully remote/work-from-home, with Midwest or Eastern time zones preferred, and offers comprehensive benefits and bonuses where applicable.

Qualifications

• 2+ years as a patent agent including drafting patent applications and responding to office actions.
• Degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical/computer engineering, or related field.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• In-house patent prep/prosecution experience is valued.
• Experience with AI-drafting tools is valued.

Responsibilities

• Draft provisional and non-provisional utility patent applications in-house.
• Collaborate with inventors to evaluate disclosures.
• Prosecute patent applications in-house under supervision with outside counsel as needed.
• Help develop patent strategies to focus protection on differentiators.
• Provide IP support to engineering and product teams, including invention mining and patent audits.
