Job summary

Apex Companies seeks a Water / Wastewater Operator for Treatment Plant & Field Services. You will travel to client sites to evaluate facilities, monitor performance, collect samples, and optimize processes.

Qualifications

• Experience in water and wastewater treatment operations and plant maintenance.
• Ability to collect, test, and interpret water samples and data.
• Familiarity with EPA/OSHA and state standards.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently in the field and with clients.

Responsibilities

• Travel to client sites to perform operational evaluations of water and wastewater treatment facilities (WTP/WWTP), lift stations, and related infrastructure.
• Monitor and evaluate treatment system performance, including pumps, motors, meters, gauges, and process control systems.
• Collect, test, and analyze water and wastewater samples; interpret results to assess treatment performance and compliance.
• Review and optimize treatment processes, including chemical feed systems and dosing, to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on treatment systems, distribution systems, and equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical components, including pumps, blowers, valves, and control systems.
• Monitor system conditions, identify operational issues, and respond to alarms, equipment failures, and emergency conditions.
• Record and maintain accurate operational data, maintenance logs, and inspection reports using computerized and manual systems.
• Prepare clear written reports and communicate findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to supervisors and project managers.
• Assist with system startups, process adjustments, inspections, and routine operations.
• Coordinate materials, spare parts, and equipment needed for maintenance and operational activities.
• Operate company vehicles and equipment safely in accordance with company policies.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, permits, and safety requirements (EPA, OSHA, and state standards).
• Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper use of PPE.
• Collaborate with team members and clients to identify operational improvements and implement best practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
