Job summary

Team4rec is seeking an experienced Part-Time Payroll Manager to join an established accountants’ firm. This fully remote role involves about 60 hours per month and flexible working arrangements.

You will manage payrolls for a varied client portfolio and lead a Payroll Assistant, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines. Key duties include auto-enrolment submissions, year-end procedures, tax code changes, and constant liaison with clients to resolve payroll queries.

Qualifications

• Experienced Payroll Manager with multi-client payrolls.
• Managed at least 1 staff member.
• Strong knowledge of PAYE, statutory payments, deductions and payroll legislation.
• Experience managing multiple payrolls to strict deadlines.
• Experience with IRIS payroll and Xero Payroll.
• Experience in an accountancy practice.
• Experience supervising junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly, four-weekly, monthly and annual payrolls for a portfolio of clients.
• Manage, support and train a Payroll Assistant, reviewing work and guiding them.
• Ensure payrolls are processed accurately, efficiently and by deadlines.
• Support clients with auto-enrolment and re-enrolment obligations.
• Assist with statutory payments such as SSP, SMP and other payments.
• Handle holiday accrual and holiday pay calculations.
• Process AEOs and other deductions.
• Respond to payroll queries from clients and employees.
• Maintain accurate employee records and up-to-date payroll data.
• Apply HMRC tax code changes and other notifications.
• Oversee PAYE accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with year-end procedures (P60s, etc.).
• Keep up to date with payroll legislation and best practices.
• Handle ad-hoc payroll duties and client requests.
