Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced outpatient coders to join our team remotely. The role emphasizes high attention to detail and depth in medical terminology, with strong emphasis on coding diagnoses and procedures in a hospital setting.

What you will do includes reviewing medical records, assigning codes, and ensuring accurate discharge dispositions, while maintaining high accuracy rates and productivity. We offer extensive benefits, training, and a supportive, mentorship-driven environment.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required or equivalent.
• 2+ years of hospital coding experience required.
• Experience with Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions coding preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work effectively in a remote setup.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation.
• Maintain 95% coding accuracy and 95% APC accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits and attend sponsored education meetings.
• Communicate coding issues to appropriate personnel for follow-up and resolution.
