Job summary

Cortex Consultants LLC is seeking a Medical Coder for a remote USA role. You will assign ICD-10 CM, E/M, ICD-10 PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with multi-specialty standards.

You must hold active AHIMA or AAPC credentials (e.g., CCS, CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, RHIT), have 3+ years of coding experience, and maintain HIPAA compliance. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet SLA targets are essential.

Qualifications

• Active coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC such as CCS, CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT.
• 3+ years of medical coding experience.
• ICD-10 certified.
• Proof of active certification maintained annually.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign ICD-10 CM, E/M, ICD-10 PCS, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers and units based on documentation.
• Adhere to multi-specialty coding standards across encounters (Outpatient, ER, Inpatient, etc.).
• Process encounters within SLA; escalate deficiencies as needed.
• Review audits within set time window and implement corrections.
• Complete government system training, including annual updates.
• Meet or exceed weekly productivity and quality targets.
• Coordinate with team and report to Site/Project Manager.
