Job summary

MOFGA Certification Services is seeking an Organic Certification Specialist to ensure compliant certification for producers in the MOFGA service territory. The role emphasizes reviewing organic system plans, inspections, and providing guidance to applicants, while maintaining audit-ready records.

The position requires knowledge of USDA-NOP standards and strong written communication. Travel within ME/NH/MA is expected; remote work is possible with occasional in-office meetings in Unity, Maine.

Qualifications

• Education or experience in organic certification or regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of USDA-NOP standards for crop, maple syrup, and processing.
• Experience with inspections and auditing in organic systems.
• Ability to communicate policy results clearly to producers.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical reviews of organic system plans and communicate results to producers.
• Review inspection reports and discuss outcomes with clients.
• Assist applicants by explaining standards and the certification process.
• Pursue adverse actions per MCS policy with supervision as needed.
• Maintain auditable client files and ensure data integrity.
• Participate in internal audits and accreditation activities.
