Job summary

CCOF is seeking a Handler Certification Specialist to certify organic Handler operations and guide new applicants, ensuring fair access to the certification process. The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, accurate documentation, and clear client communication.

This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States. Reporting to the Handler Certification Team Lead or Manager, you will review mid-year updates, negotiate compliance with USDA NOP standards, and work on special projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in food science, chemistry or related field, or 3+ years in related work.
• Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and database programs.
• Clear, concise written and verbal communication; ability to explain certification requirements to clients.
• Excellent attention to detail with process improvement mindset.
• Ability to think critically and work autonomously on diverse topics.
• Team-oriented with strong listening and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical services to certified organic processor/handler clients and communicate updates.
• Make independent compliance decisions based on USDA NOP and organic standards.
• Maintain accurate client records in the proprietary database.
• Support routine and special projects as directed by leadership.
