Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Oracle DBA Lead to manage end-to-end migration of on-prem Oracle databases to AWS EC2. The role emphasizes architecture, planning, and execution with strong collaboration across IT teams.

Responsibilities include discovery, sizing, cutover planning, and post-go-live hypercare. Candidates should have extensive Oracle experience, RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, and EM/WFM monitoring familiarity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience including production support and migrations.
• Experience migrating Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS.
• Proficiency with RMAN, Data Pump, GoldenGate, Data Guard.
• Experience with Oracle RAC and high availability configurations.
• Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager and AWS monitoring tools.
• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end migration of Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS, primarily rehost to EC2.
• Perform discovery of versions, editions, OS, storage, interfaces, and DR configurations.
• Define migration approach, prerequisites, sizing, outage requirements, cutover, rollback, and handover.
• Build and configure Oracle environments on AWS EC2, including installation and network settings.
• Execute schema and data migration using RMAN, Data Pump, or GoldenGate per need.
• Plan mock migrations, production cutovers, and post-cutover stabilization.
• Provide short-term hypercare, triage, and remediation after migration incidents.
• Create runbooks, validation checklists, and SOPs for migration and operations.
• Coordinate with application, AWS, network, security, storage, OS, and business teams.
• Deliver technical leadership for complex incidents and knowledge transfer.
