Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Oracle DBA Lead to drive the migration of Oracle databases from on-prem to AWS, with a primary focus on re hosting to Oracle Database on EC2. The role requires strong experience across Oracle versions, RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, and RMAN/Data Pump, plus AWS monitoring and security awareness.

The candidate will coordinate with application, network, security, and storage teams, define cutover plans, and perform post-migration hypercare to ensure stability and performance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on Oracle DBA experience including production support and migration responsibilities.
• Experience migrating Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS or another cloud environment; hands-on AWS rehost experience preferred.
• Hands-on knowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate and related migration patterns.
• Experience with RMAN, Data Pump, transportable tablespaces and data validation during migrations.
• Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager and AWS monitoring tools; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end migration of Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS, primarily rehost to Oracle DB on EC2.
• Perform discovery and assessment of versions, OS, storage, interfaces, dependencies, backups, and DR configurations.
• Define migration approach, prerequisites, cutover, rollback, and validation criteria; hand over to operations.
• Build and configure Oracle databases on AWS EC2 including storage, networking, tuning, and access controls.
• Execute schema and data migration using RMAN, Data Pump, or GoldenGate based on size and downtime tolerance.
• Plan mock migrations and production cutovers with application connectivity changes and post-cutover validation.
• Provide limited-duration post-go-live hypercare and rapid issue resolution across DB services.
• Create migration runbooks, validation checklists, rollback procedures, and SOPs; maintain artifacts.
• Coordinate with application, AWS cloud, network, security, storage, and OS teams during migration and stabilization.
• Offer technical leadership for incidents and knowledge transfer to steady-state teams.
