Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help create a great patient experience by preparing patients for exams, performing pre-exam tests, and explaining each step of the process. The role acts as a liaison between patients and Optometrists, supporting both onsite and remote exam workflows.

The position is part-time with a pay rate of $17 to $25.50 per hour. Training is provided, and experience in optical/healthcare environments is valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of related experience.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Optical or healthcare background preferred; medical office professionalism required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for onsite and remote examinations and assist the doctor during exams.
• Complete pre-exam diagnostic tests and document results in EMR.
• Explain preliminary testing to patients and guide through remote eye exams when applicable.
• Coordinate with retail associates to schedule appointments and manage exam books.
• Preauthorize insurance in accordance with SOPs and discuss plan benefits with patients.
• Maintain patient records and ensure a clean, operational clinical environment.
