Job summary

Visionworks of America, Inc. is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for onsite and remote examinations, perform pre-exam testing, and explain steps in the process. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists and assist in the initial steps of the patient journey.

The position is part-time with pay ranging from $17.75 to $26.63 per hour. Training is provided, and experience in optical/healthcare is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office/business professionalism required.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and submit information to EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document results.
• For remote appointments, assist patients through remote eye exam process and document results.
• Transition patients to a retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOPs.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books.
• Maintain patient flow for doctor effectiveness.
• Answer clinical questions in person and by phone, triage emergencies.
• Maintain complete patient records.
• Instruct patients on contact lens use and care.
• Place diagnostic contact lens orders and notify patients when ready.
• Know contact lens brands and pull trials when requested.
• Maintain clean environment and equipment, ready for nightly coverage.
• Participate in training and complete required clinical certifications.
• Work flexible hours including travel to other locations.
