Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a remote OP/ED/OBS Coding Auditor to join the HIM Coding/CDI team. You will review inpatient and outpatient records for coding accuracy and provide quality metrics to the Coding Manager.

You will educate medical staff on coding questions, stay current with CMS/IPPS/OPPS rules, and contribute to coder education and annual quality plans. This role supports remote work from anywhere outside the greater Chicagoland area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in health information management.
• RHIT, RHIA, or CCS credentials required.
• 5+ years of acute care facility coding experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.

Responsibilities

• Perform data quality reviews on inpatient and outpatient records to ensure proper coding and charging guidelines are followed.
• Provide coding quality information and reports with trend analysis to Coding Manager.
• Educate Medical Staff on ICD-10/CPT coding questions and guidelines as needed.
• Review and draft hospital coding guidelines and procedures with management.
