Job summary

Merck is seeking an experienced US Oncology Medical Affairs Field Medical Alignment Director to lead strategic alignment across the Oncology portfolio in the US MA leadership teams. The role requires senior scientific acumen, and collaboration with executives to drive priority initiatives and execution across programs.

Travel about 25% with remote work arrangements; relocation not required. The position offers a robust benefits package and potential for annual bonus and long-term incentives.

Qualifications

• Advanced healthcare/science doctoral degree (e.g., M.D., Pharm.D., Ph.D.)
• At least 5 years field/medical affairs experience, with 2+ years in HQ role or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years working in oncology the relevant therapeutic area
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, strategic, planning, leadership and communication skills
• Ability to manage demanding workload, timelines and changing market events
• Ability to work cross-functionally across product lifecycle
• Strong business acumen in pharma/healthcare
• Experience presenting to senior leadership and cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and AI capabilities for field medical effectiveness

Responsibilities

• Influence field medical execution aligned with strategy with EDs and TLs
• Represent US TA Medical Affairs in cross-functional meetings
• Develop and lead life-cycle implementation strategies
• Translate insights into executive-level messaging and presentations
• Scan healthcare trends to build future capabilities
• Lead culture, team development, and performance initiatives
• Provide scientific and MA expertise for high-priority projects
• Act as primary Oncology USMA contact for operations and logistics
• Drive simplification and efficiency across systems and processes
• Embed AI-first mindset within Oncology
• Inform leadership on gaps and process improvements
