Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a remote Medical Coder for ambulatory coding. The ideal candidate will have 6 months of E/M coding experience, oncology preferred, and active AHIMA or AAPC certification. Remote role available to eligible states with Banner-provided equipment.

Responsibilities include coding diagnoses and procedures, abstracting data into EMR, and maintaining compliance with CMS and other regulations. Strong attention to detail and efficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• 6 months recent experience in E/M coding.
• Oncology experience preferred; other areas like General Surgery, GI, Urology are acceptable.
• Must be certified through AHIMA or AAPC; role requires more than CPC-A.
• Remote work allowed; must reside in eligible states; remote equipment provided.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate medical records and assign ICD/CPT codes per guidelines.
• Abstract diagnoses/procedures into EMR and seek missing information.
• Ensure compliance with coding rules for CMS, Medicaid and other regs.
• Compile daily/monthly reports as needed for analysis.
• Work independently with access to coding software and records.
