Job summary

City of Lincoln seeks a Desktop Support Technician to deliver first- and second-level IT support across local and remote environments. The role focuses on hardware/software troubleshooting, incident documentation in the IT ticketing system, and support for Windows 10/11 and Office 365.

The technician will also provide macOS support, enterprise app assistance (including Cisco Jabber), AV coordination, and MDM for iOS/Android. Strong communication and SLA adherence are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s in IT/CS or equivalent mix of education and work experience.
• 18+ months of hands-on desktop support or help desk experience.
• CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent preferred.
• Microsoft MCP/365 Fundamentals or higher certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide first- and second-level IT support for hardware, software, and apps via phone, remote access, and on-site.
• Log and track incidents in the IT ticketing system with accurate documentation.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot Windows 10/11 and Office 365; basic macOS support.
• Install, configure, and support enterprise apps including Cisco Jabber.
• Set up and troubleshoot printers, desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
• Perform routine maintenance on computers, laptops, and printers to ensure reliability.
• Execute remedial repairs on desktops, laptops, and printers.
• Use diagnostics to resolve network, hardware, and software issues.
• Coordinate with vendors for AV issues as needed.
• Provide status updates to users and stakeholders on incidents and resolutions.
• Support MDM for iOS and Android in the enterprise environment.
• Demonstrate network, server, AV, and telecom knowledge to support IT needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
