Job summary

Abert Caraway, PLLC seeks a full-time attorney to join its oil and gas practice. The attorney will examine title and prepare oil and gas title opinions, including acquisition, drilling, division order, supplemental, and other title opinions.

The role also involves assisting operators, landowners, and industry participants on upstream oil and gas matters, with emphasis on accuracy, independence, and clear communication in a fully remote environment.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school is required.
• Active Texas license in good standing is required.
• Experience examining oil and gas title and preparing title opinions is preferred.
• Landman or oil & gas land role background strongly preferred.
• NM licensure is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical writing abilities.
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Examine complex mineral, leasehold, royalty, overriding royalty, and working interest title.
• Prepare acquisition, drilling, division order, supplemental, and other oil and gas title opinions.
• Analyze oil and gas leases, assignments, deeds, probate proceedings, pooling instruments, operating agreements, and other title-related documents.
• Identify and explain title defects, ownership issues, and curative requirements.
• Advise operators, landowners, and clients on upstream oil and gas matters.
• Collaborate with firm attorneys, landmen, brokers, and clients to complete projects accurately and efficiently.
