Job summary

Abert Caraway, PLLC seeks a full-time attorney to join its oil and gas practice in a 100% remote role. The attorney’s primary responsibility will be examining title and preparing oil and gas title opinions, including acquisition, drilling, division order, and supplemental opinions.

You will assist operators, landowners, and other industry participants with upstream matters. The position requires a JD, an active Texas license, and strong writing and analytical skills; licensure in New Mexico is a

Qualifications

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
Experience examining oil and gas title and preparing title opinions preferred.
Licensure to practice law in New Mexico is a plus.
Strong writing and analytical skills; attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities

Examine complex mineral, leasehold, royalty, and working interest title.
Prepare acquisition, drilling, division order, supplemental, and other oil and gas title opinions.
Analyze leases, assignments, deeds, probate proceedings, pooling instruments, operating agreements, and title documents.
Identify title defects, ownership issues, and curative requirements.
Advise operators, landowners, and clients on upstream oil and gas matters.
Collaborate with attorneys, landmen, brokers, and clients to complete projects accurately and efficiently.
