Job summary

Abert Caraway, PLLC is seeking a full-time attorney to join its oil and gas practice in a 100% remote position. The attorney will examine title and prepare oil and gas title opinions, including acquisition, drilling, division order, and related topics. The role requires a J.D.

from an accredited law school, an active Texas license, and strong title analysis and writing abilities. Experience in oil and gas title work is preferred, and NM licensure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Texas and in good standing.
• Experience examining oil and gas title and preparing title opinions is preferred.
• Prior landman or oil & gas land role experience is strongly preferred.
• Licensure to practice law in New Mexico is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Examine complex mineral, leasehold, royalty, overriding royalty, and working interest title.
• Prepare acquisition, drilling, division order, supplemental, and other oil and gas title opinions.
• Analyze oil and gas leases, assignments, deeds, probate proceedings, pooling instruments, operating agreements, and other title documents.
• Identify and explain title defects, ownership issues, and curative requirements.
• Advise operators, landowners, and clients on upstream oil and gas matters.
• Collaborate with firm attorneys, landmen, brokers, and clients to complete projects accurately.
