Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Facility Compliance Consultant I (Nursing Home Surveyor) to conduct regulatory inspections of nursing homes, ensure compliance with state and federal requirements, and document findings through survey reports and deficiencies.

This fully remote position covers Cabarrus, Davidson, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, and Union counties, with occasional overnight travel for inspections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a health, human service, or educational related field plus three years' experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a related health program.
• Experience conducting nursing home inspections or related regulatory activities preferred.
• Strong ability to apply standardized regulatory criteria during inspections.

Responsibilities

• Conduct onsite inspections of nursing homes during routine surveys and complaint investigations.
• Review, verify, and document facility operations and care practices through structured evaluation methods.
• Complete survey reports, including statements of deficiency and written findings.
• Apply standardized regulatory criteria to ensure consistent and accurate assessments.
• Coordinate inspection schedules across multiple counties and adjust for weekends/night shifts as needed.
• Travel overnight when inspection sites exceed regional distance guidelines or scheduling requires extended presence.
