Job summary

System One is seeking a Fuel Handling Mechanical Design Engineer for a contract role based in Bellevue, WA. The position focuses on the design of nuclear fuel handling equipment from requirements through commissioning, with remote/offsite collaboration and a 40-hour week.

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field, 6–15 years of direct design experience, and familiarity with ASME BPVC.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or related discipline from an accredited university, or equivalent experience.
• 6-15 years of direct experience with mechanical equipment design.
• Experience with ASME BPVC, Section III, Division 1 and/or Section VIII.
• Experience with nuclear fuel handling equipment is a plus.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to coordinate and lead design teams with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Design of nuclear fuel handling equipment from requirements development through final design, manufacturing and commissioning.
• Provide support for design of fuel handling equipment.
• Prepare drawings and documents using engineering tools.
• Write technical reports detailing the design work.
• Coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.
• Present results of design reviews and oversee technical areas within projects.
• Establish and maintain system requirements and specifications.
