Job summary

System One is seeking a Nuclear Island Major Maintenance Equipment Mechanical Design Engineer for a remote/offsite role. The position focuses on designing fuel handling equipment from requirements through commissioning, with a pay rate of $52-86 per hour.

Candidates should hold a B.S. in Engineering and 6+ years of mechanical design experience, including nuclear fuel handling systems. Proficiency in codes (ASME/ANSI/IEEE) and strong technical writing are highly desired.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university.
• 6+ years of proven mechanical system design and operations experience.
• Experience with nuclear fuel handling systems is preferred.
• Current or previously qualified nuclear plant operator (EOOW, SRO, STE, or similar) is highly desired.
• Experience with quality standards such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.

Responsibilities

• Design of nuclear fuel handling equipment from requirements development through final design, manufacturing and commissioning.
• Provide a wide range of support for the design of fuel handling equipment.
• Complete designs of equipment, processes and components by applying engineering and scientific principles.
• Interface with the design team to create and manage drawing packages, including P&ID's, 3D models, system interface drawings, assembly and detailed design drawings.
• Provide technical direction and guidance to engineers regarding nuclear and non-nuclear design standards.
• Propose and initiate testing programs for plant system qualification.
