Music Will seeks a seasoned Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting for a national nonprofit education program. Reporting to the CFOO, you will own close, grants, and audits while upholding internal controls and GAAP.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years progressive accounting/finance experience, nonprofit preferred.
• 3+ years in management/leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP for not-for-profit accounting.
• Experience with annual external audits and audit schedules.
• Proficiency with Sage Intacct and financial systems.

Responsabilités

• Own monthly close including journals, accruals, grants, and cash activity.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and nonprofit accounting standards; maintain policies and controls.
• Maintain general ledger, chart of accounts, and supervise Sage Intacct usage.
• Develop rolling 13-week cash forecast for liquidity management.
• Lead annual budget process and department projections with leadership.
• Review budget-to-actuals with managers and update projections.
• Coordinate external audit schedules and prepare working papers.
• Ensure tax-exemption and charitable registrations compliance.
• Supervise AP/AR team (Operations Coordinator) and provide financial insights.
• Report to CFOO and Finance/Audit Committee with clear analyses.
