Job summary

NonProfit Fiscal Management (NPFM) is hiring an Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations for a portfolio of nonprofit clients under supervision. This fully remote role partners with accountants, data service specialists, and leadership to deliver accurate, timely financial services including budgeting, grant reporting, and audit preparation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• At least four years of experience with nonprofit accounting.
• Ability to manage monthly financial operations for multiple clients.
• Clear and respectful written and verbal communication.
• Thrives in a fully remote environment; highly organized and self-motivated.
• Curious, systems-minded and proactive about improving processes.
• Proficient with Excel and nonprofit accounting software; willing to learn MIP Fund Accounting.
• Understands funder requirements and restricted funding.
• Believes financial work can be rigorous and human-centered.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly and quarterly close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Prepare financial statements and funder-specific reports.
• Track restricted funding and grant allocations.
• Review transactional data entered by client or support staff.
• Manage annual audit, 990, and 1099 preparation, and assist with annual budgeting.
• Strengthen systems and procedures and address issues as they arise.
• Communicate with clients through video, email, and phone, and address general accounting requests.
