Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking a Network Engineer to join a team delivering secure, scalable networking for cloud-based applications. You will design, implement, and optimize network architectures while coordinating with DevOps and development teams to automate provisioning and maintenance.

The role requires expertise in Palo Alto, Cisco, AWS networking and monitoring tools, with a focus on security and reliability. Remote work from Virginia is supported, with on-call rotation as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience with advanced networking concepts including BGP, DHCP, VPN, and ACLs.
• Ability to work with network vendors and ISPs to setup and troubleshoot issues.
• Knowledge of Palo Alto Firewall and Panorama configuration, upgrades, and policy management.
• Experience with Cisco switch configuration, updates, and ACL management.
• Knowledge of networking monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Splunk and SolarWinds NetFlow.
• Willingness to learn IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation for automating network provisioning.
• Ability to learn AWS networking (VPC, ELB, Security Groups, routing).
• Knowledge of security remediation and network hardening.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize networking while ensuring secure connectivity.
• Configure and manage a hybrid cloud network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design highly available network architectures for cloud apps.
• Utilize monitoring and troubleshooting tools to identify and resolve network performance and security issues.
• Adhere to networking best practices, participate in security remediation, and perform system hardening.
