Job summary

AECOM seeks a Natural Gas Compression Subject Matter Expert to lead compression strategy and equipment selection for a major gas transmission project. This remote role allows work from diverse US offices or home-based setup, supporting a multi-disciplinary team.

You will establish compression philosophy, select reciprocating vs centrifugal units, and drive station layout standards while guiding engineers across projects nationwide.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of related experience or equivalent.
• 8 years in mechanical design engineering within natural gas, pipeline midstream, or energy infra.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Proven Lead Engineer/SME on large natural gas compression projects.

Responsibilities

• Define over-pressure protection systems per API/ASME/CFR.
• Lead complex thermodynamic and gas-hydraulic calculations.
• Direct dynamic analysis (pulsation, torsional vibration, surge).
• Prepare specs and data sheets for compressor packages and turbines.
• Lead TBEs, vendor package integration, FAT witnessing.
• Drive standardization for design, procurement, constructability.
• Review PFDs, P&IDs, compressor layouts, ESD logic, hazard plans.
• Support proposal development and client presentations.
