Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Natural Gas Compression Subject Matter Expert to lead the technical authority for compression stations on major gas transmission projects. This remote role offers flexibility to work from various US offices, with primary locations in Houston, Austin, Denver, and New Orleans.

The candidate will define compression philosophy, equipment selection, and station layouts, and provide governance across designs while mentoring engineers and interfacing with clients and regulators.

Qualifications

BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
8 years of mechanical design engineering experience in natural gas/pipeline/energy sectors.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Proven Lead Engineer/SME on large gas compression projects.
Understanding of design, industrial processes and energy projects.
Experience in industrial/energy fields.

Responsibilities

Define over-pressure protection and relief systems per API/ASME/CFR.
Lead thermodynamic and gas-hydraulic calculations for multi-stage compression.
Review dynamic analysis (pulsation, torsional vibration, pipe stress).
Prepare specs and data sheets for rotating equipment (compressors, turbines, engines).
Lead technical bid evaluations and vendor integration; witness FATs.
Standardize engineering, procurement, and constructability across sites.
