Job summary

Metrie is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage full-cycle, multi-state U.S. payroll in a remote setting. You will handle weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly processing, tax setup, and reporting, ensuring on-time, accurate payroll across jurisdictions.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of full-cycle payroll, 3+ years with ADP Workforce Now, and strong knowledge of U.S. payroll taxes. CPP is a plus; remote work requires self-discipline and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-cycle, multi-state U.S. payroll processing experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on ADP Workforce Now experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll taxation, including state/local taxes.
• Experience processing California hourly payroll and navigating complex multi-jurisdiction payroll requirements.
• Experience importing pay, time batches, and employee data in ADP Workforce Now.
• Experience writing and using ADP Workforce Now reports.
• Experience with payroll journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end variance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll across weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly frequencies.
• Process new hires, terminations, and other payroll changes.
• Set up and maintain multi-state payroll taxation and tax accounts.
• Research and resolve payroll/tax issues across jurisdictions.
• Complete state payroll reporting and support payroll compliance activities.
• Import pay/time batches and employee data into ADP Workforce Now and validate information.
• Create and maintain ADP Workforce Now reports for processing, reconciliation, analysis, and stakeholder requests.
• Complete applicable RROP calculations and other payroll calculations.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and service-oriented manner.
• Prepare payroll journal entries for month-end and analyze month-end variances.
• Identify payroll discrepancies and troubleshoot issues, escalating as needed.
• Support payroll documentation, audits, reconciliations, and process improvements.
