Job summary

Gatewood is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function across its holding and operating entities. You will close books, manage AR/AP, oversee budgeting/forecasting, and deliver accurate, leadership-ready reports for the board and executives.

You’ll consolidate results enterprise-wide while also producing stand-alone reports for each company, building clear narratives and KPI dashboards for non-finance leaders. This role requires strong technical skills and cross-entity collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including controller, assistant controller, or senior accounting manager responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA preferred.
• Advanced QuickBooks Online proficiency — multi-entity setup, class/location tracking, bank rules, and reporting customization.
• Advanced Excel skills — complex formulas, lookups, pivot tables, scenario modeling, and clean financial model design.
• Demonstrated experience consolidating financials across multiple legal entities, including intercompany eliminations.
• Track record of building budgets and forecasts and partnering with operators on resource decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to translate financial detail into plain-language insight for leadership and board members.
• High attention to detail and the discipline to meet recurring monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Accounting Operations & Close: Own full accounting cycle across entities — journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany activity, monthly/ quarterly/ annual close.
• Maintain a clean chart of accounts and consistent accounting policies across entities.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and coordinate with external tax and audit partners.
• Consolidated & Entity-Level Reporting: Produce monthly consolidated financial statements for the holding company and stand-alone reports for each entity.
• Produce stand-alone financial packages — P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and KPI dashboards.
• Build and maintain reporting in Excel (and/or QBO tools) with clear structure and variance commentary.
• Budgeting, Forecasting & Resource Management: Lead annual budgeting and consolidate results; maintain rolling forecasts.
• Conduct budget reviews with leaders; identify variances and propose corrective actions.
• Support resource decisions with clear financial analysis.
