Qualifications

• Master of Science in Physics, Health Physics, Radiological Physics, Medical Physics, or related field required.
• PhD preferred.
• License/Certification: Texas License in Medical Physics specialty required.
• Board Certification by the American Board of Radiology or American Board Science of Nuclear Medicine or American Board of Health Physics or other nationally recognized medical physics board certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
• Serves as primary Radiation Safety Officer for X‑Ray Registration and RAM licenses and liaises with the Texas Department of State Health Services.
• Develops and evaluates radiation safety policies to minimize exposure and ensure safe practices.
• Oversees Equipment Performance Evaluations for imaging equipment and ensures image quality and safety.
• Performs dosimetry calculations to meet regulatory standards and conducts shielding measurements.
• Coordinates acceptance testing of new imaging equipment and provides shielding recommendations.
• Maintains adherence to Memorial Hermann policies within budget and time constraints.
• Supports staff development and acts as preceptor/mentor to less experienced personnel.
