Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience with 2+ years in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
• HUD Direct Endorsement (DE) and VA credit certifications.
• Comprehensive expertise in Conventional, Government, Agency, and Jumbo loan guidelines.
• Proven track record of managing team performance and achieving productivity targets.
• Strong leadership and people management skills with experience coaching and developing staff.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex underwriting scenarios.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for audit responses and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Mortgage Underwriters to achieve goals and conduct regular performance reviews.
• Identify performance gaps and implement corrective action plans.
• Foster a collaborative team environment that promotes professional growth.
• Oversee daily inventory distribution and prioritization to ensure timely loan processing.
• Monitor aging reports and reduce cycle times to meet service level agreements.
• Review and approve underwriting decisions within authority and conduct quality reviews of files.
• Lead responses to audit findings and coordinate with Risk, Compliance, and QA teams.
• Develop and implement corrective action plans and follow-up requirements for audits.
• Participate in management meetings and provide operational insights to senior leadership.
• Contribute to process improvements and policy development.
• Support training and onboarding of new team members.
