Job summary

Ocrolus is seeking an experienced mortgage underwriting leader to build and lead a QA-driven team for our AI-powered underwriting products. You will oversee daily reviews of production loan files and drive data-informed improvements with cross-functional partners.

Lead with deep underwriting expertise, mentor a high-performing team, and translate complex mortgage concepts into actionable insights for Product, Engineering, and Machine Learning teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience, including agency lending.
• 3+ years leading mortgage underwriting teams.
• Deep expertise in borrower eligibility, income analysis, asset verification, credit assessment, collateral review, appraisal analysis, underwriting conditions, and agency guideline interpretation.
• Demonstrated ability to identify trends, perform root cause analysis, and translate findings into process or technology improvements.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex underwriting concepts for technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing underwriting team ensuring QA of Ocrolus mortgage products.
• Oversee daily reviews of a representative sample of production loan files to validate accuracy.
• Drive consistency in QA scoring, documentation, and root cause analysis across the team.
• Identify trends, recurring defects, and opportunities for product improvement through QA reviews.
• Translate underwriting observations into clear language for engineering and product teams.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, ML, and Customer Success to improve underwriting accuracy.
