The Team Lead - Underwriter will manage a team of underwriters, ensuring accurate, timely decisions on Purchase, Refinance, and Construction loan files. Applicants should demonstrate strong knowledge of mortgage guidelines, QA processes, and the ability to drive SLA-compliant results across the unit.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as Team lead in US Mortgage Post close or live Underwriting.
• Hands-on experience underwriting Purchase, Refinance, and Construction loans.
• Ability to evaluate full loan files and render Approve / Suspend / Counter-offer decisions.
• Reviewing appraisals for valuation accuracy and lender guidance.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary quality checkpoint for the team before files are delivered.
• Perform pre-delivery QC on a defined sample of loans; track error trends by underwriter.
• Stay current on FNMA/FHLMC guideline updates; cascade changes to the team.
• Maintain a positive and energized team environment; address interpersonal issues promptly.
