Job summary

Direct Mortgage Loans seeks a Director of Mortgage Technology to lead our mortgage technology strategy, people, and priorities. This is a hands-on leadership role blending strategy with technical execution.

You will own the technology roadmap, manage Encompass configuration and integrations, and partner across departments to deliver scalable, measurable technology capabilities. Remote-friendly with local Maryland considerations, the role requires executive communication, vendor management, and a

Qualifications

8+ years in mortgage technology or related financial-services tech function.
Experience leading a technology team with performance management.
Hands-on Encompass administration, configuration, workflows, reporting and integrations.
Balance day-to-day support with longer-term strategic initiatives.
Experience implementing and managing vendors and cross-functional processes.
Strong executive communication; explain risks and tradeoffs clearly.

Responsibilities

Develop a technology roadmap aligned with priorities, production needs, and capacity.
Lead, coach, and develop the Technology team including hiring and training.
Own mortgage technology ecosystem health: Encompass config, templates, integrations, data quality.
Establish intake, prioritization and change management processes.
Balance production support with strategic initiatives and system improvements.
Evaluate new technology, upgrades, and vendor integrations with clear recommendations.
Identify automation opportunities and provide leaders with reliable information.
Manage technology vendors, contracts, invoices, renewals, SLAs, and security reviews.
Ensure issues are diagnosed and resolved across the stack with root-cause fixes.
Partner with Compliance and Operations on regulated processes; ensure access controls and security.
Coordinate with partners on risk, incident response, and business continuity.
Maintain documentation, shared access, and cross-training to reduce key-person risk.
Communicate releases and training, ensuring teams are supported.
Provide leadership with reporting on priorities, risks, and vendor performance.
