Job summary

PhoenixTeam is seeking a Technical Writer with mortgage and fintech experience to create clear, accurate documentation for complex financial systems. You will translate regulatory requirements and product functionality into accessible content for internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.

Collaborate with engineering, product, compliance, and business teams to document features, ensure regulatory alignment (RESPA, TILA, HMDA, TRID), and maintain templates and style guides.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field or equivalent experience, with 3–5+ years in technical writing in fintech or regulated industries.
• 7 years of experience in technical writing, preferably fintech or regulated industries.
• Ability to obtain VA Public Trust Clearance.
• Strong ability to understand and explain complex technical systems.
• Experience writing API documentation and developer-facing content.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Adobe writing/editing capabilities.
• Proficient in Confluence and SharePoint documentation/knowledge-base systems.
• Proficient in Markdown editors and Git/GitHub/GitLab for version control.
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
• Strong collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Structured thinking and content organization.
• Attention to detail and consistency.
• Adaptability in fast-paced, regulated environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain technical documentation for mortgage and fintech systems (LOS, POS, servicing platforms).
• Develop user guides, API documentation, knowledge base articles, and training materials.
• Translate complex technical and regulatory concepts into clear, concise content.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to document features and system changes.
• Ensure documentation aligns with regulatory requirements (RESPA, TILA, HMDA, TRID).
• Maintain documentation standards, templates, and style guides.
• Support onboarding and training through structured learning materials.
• Manage documentation lifecycle, versioning, and updates.
• Participate in product releases to ensure documentation readiness.
• Gather feedback to continuously improve documentation quality and usability.
