Job summary

Placements24 partners with a forward-thinking analytics firm to hire a Data Scientist specializing in Machine Learning for a fully remote team. You will design, deploy, and optimize ML models that drive business insights and product innovation.

The role requires a Master’s/PhD in a quantitative field and 4+ years of data science experience, with strong Python and ML libraries, SQL, and experience with big data and cloud environments. Remote-friendly role from Welkom, Free State region.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field (CS, Statistics, Math, Physics)
• 4+ years of professional data science experience with a focus on ML
• Proficiency in Python and ML libraries (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy)
• Experience with SQL, big data tools, and cloud platforms is a plus

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement ML models for predictive analytics, classification, regression, and other data-driven tasks.
• Process, clean, and transform large, complex datasets from various sources.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Evaluate and compare different ML algorithms and techniques.
• Deploy trained models into production environments and monitor their performance.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to integrate ML models into applications and services.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and MLOps infrastructure.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in ML/AI.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development of data science best practices.
