Ideal candidates hold a Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field, with 4+ years of ML experience and strong Python plus TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn skills.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics.
• 4+ years of experience as a ML Engineer or similar role focused on building and deploying ML models.
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling and supervised/unsupervised learning algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python and ML libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch).
• Experience with big data tech (Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Solid software engineering practices including version control (Git) and testing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment in Welkom, Free State.
• Experience with MLOps is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement advanced ML models for predictive analytics and forecasting.
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines for model training and inference.
• Perform feature engineering, model selection, and hyperparameter tuning.
• Deploy ML models into production with scalable infrastructure.
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to translate needs into ML solutions.
• Monitor model performance and plan retraining and improvement strategies.
• Conduct A/B testing and experiments to evaluate model impact.
• Stay updated on ML and data science advancements.
• Document models, methodologies, and results thoroughly.
