The role requires a Master’s/PhD in a quantitative field and 4+ years of data science experience, with strong Python and ML libraries, SQL, and experience with big data and cloud environments. Remote-friendly role from Welkom, Free State region.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field (CS, Statistics, Math, Physics)
• 4+ years of professional data science experience with a focus on ML
• Proficiency in Python and ML libraries (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy)
• Experience with SQL, big data tools, and cloud platforms is a plus

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement ML models for predictive analytics, classification, regression, and other data-driven tasks.

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking analytics firm, is seeking an exceptional Data Scientist with a specialization in Machine Learning to join their fully remote team. This role is based out of Welkom, Free State , but the position itself is remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere. You will be instrumental in developing and deploying advanced machine learning models that drive business insights and product innovation. This is a hands-on role requiring deep analytical expertise, strong programming skills, and a passion for solving complex problems using data. You will work with large datasets, cutting-edge algorithms, and collaborate with talented individuals across various disciplines. Our client is committed to leveraging data to create impactful solutions and is looking for a driven individual to contribute to their success in the Welkom, Free State region, albeit in a remote capacity.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python and relevant libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy).
• Experience with various machine learning algorithms (e.g., supervised, unsupervised, deep learning).
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling and experimental design.
• Experience with SQL and working with relational databases.
• Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, suitable for a remote work environment.
• Proven ability to translate business problems into data science solutions relevant to organizations in Welkom, Free State .
