Job summary

American Public University System is seeking a Military Assistance Specialist I to process military tuition assistance forms, submit veteran benefits data to the VA, and handle civilian tuition assistance within established service level goals. You will advise, counsel, and clearly communicate information about benefits to military and veteran students.

This role requires compliance with VA/DoD regulations and FERPA standards, strong problem-solving and MS Office skills, and a Bachelor's degree.

Qualifications

• Two or more years’ experience in customer facing functions, preferably in a higher education setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required.
• Ability to learn new skills and processes associated with processing of military and veterans benefits.

Responsibilities

• Process military and civilian tuition assistance forms.
• Maintain targeted service levels as established by Military Assistance Management.
• Advise and counsel military and veteran students regarding educational benefits.
• Certify VA benefits and report progress of veteran and military students.
• Maintain communication with VA and military and other 3rd party representatives.
• Maintain awareness of compliance regulations and VA & DoD education policies in all processing aspects.
