Job summary

Great River Connections Academy is seeking a Middle School Special Education Teacher to deliver specially designed instruction to students with special needs from a home-based Ohio location. Applicants must hold an Ohio Special Education Certificate and reside within 30 miles of the Ohio border.

The teacher will manage IEPs, provide virtual services, and collaborate with families and staff to ensure compliance with IDEA regulations.

Qualifications

Must have an Ohio Special Education Certificate.
Degree in Special Education or related Education Field.
Background checks/clearances including the Child Abuse History Clearance.
Experience with IDEA policy and/or administration in Special Education.
Strong technology skills with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Highly organized and punctual.
Willingness to travel for marketing, state testing and school events.
Ability to work remotely.
Willingness to use a personal device and email address for two-step authentication.

Responsibilities

Manage and provide instructional guidance for a caseload of students requiring direct and/or indirect services.
Develop, write, implement, and monitor IEPs and 504 plans.
Monitor student progress, complete report cards and conduct parent conferences.
Communicate regularly with student’s IEP team, including parents/learning coaches, related service providers, and other school staff to ensure goals are met.
Provide direct services to students, including services delivered through web-conferencing software.
Schedule, organize and conduct IEP related meetings in a virtual environment.
Participate in the school’s Student Support Team; help develop program modifications and strategies.
Assist with coordination of related service providers as mandated by IEPs.
Maintain accurate data in the LMS and special education software.
Assist with administering state testing and coordinate required adaptations.
