Job summary

Premera Blue Cross in the United States is seeking a Membership Specialist II to perform complex reconciliation and enrollment activities for Individual or Group accounts receivable. You will investigate billing issues, issue refunds or transfers, and maintain detailed notes to support financial risk management and customer satisfaction.

The role requires accuracy, a solid accounting foundation, and the ability to collaborate with internal partners.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (Required)
• Two (2) years of accounting/finance/bookkeeping experience or an Associate’s Degree in accounting/finance/bookkeeping (Required)
• One (1) year prior experience as Membership Analyst I or in a Premera position with reconciliation experience (Required)
• Health or insurance industry experience (Preferred)
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Identify, resolve and document complex reconciliation discrepancies; process refunds, transfers of premiums, reinstatements, and insufficient fund issues
• Validate accounts receivable by detailed reconciliation and audit of group or individual premiums and membership
• Use Access/Excel and other reports to update eligibility, enrollment and reconciliation
• Meet department metrics for production and quality; maintain current policies and procedures
• Create written correspondence letters regarding billing/enrollment issues
• Research and resolve complex account discrepancies, billing issues, and generate customized bills as needed
• Educate members, brokers, or groups on membership and billing processes and portal usage
• Respond to inquiries from clients/state agencies regarding electronic feeds and web entries
