Sumitomo Pharma America, based in the U.S., seeks an Associate Director of Medical Strategy (Prostate Cancer) to lead medical affairs strategy and execution for internal programs and external interactions. You will collaborate across cross-functional teams and partner with alliance members to translate complex oncology science into actionable medical plans.

The role requires an advanced scientific degree and 8+ years in life sciences with oncology MA experience.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a scientific or healthcare-related field required.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in pharma/biotech/healthcare or related life sciences industry.
• Medical Affairs experience required; oncology experience strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting medical strategy, scientific communications, publication planning, evidence generation, or field medical collaboration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the medical director for assigned prostate cancer projects, providing medical and scientific leadership in collaboration with the Medical Affairs Director.
• Develops Medical Affairs strategic plans aligned with brand imperatives and informed by external engagement, MSL input, and cross-functional input.
• Coordinates with external alliance partners for assigned projects.
• Provides medical input into plans and scientific platforms.
• Collaborates with U.S. Field Medical, Medical Communications & Operations, RWE & HEOR, and ex-U.S. colleagues for cross-functional medical alignment.
• Supports multimodal medical education channels (publications, presentations, congresses, advisory boards, MA education).
• Contributes to detailed scientific publication plans.
• Engages with scientific leaders and external experts to support assigned projects.
• Works with internal stakeholders to bring medical perspective to strategies and tactics.
• Partners with R&D as needed for ongoing activities and MA input.
• Attends scientific conferences to support dissemination and competitive intelligence gathering.
• Supports investigator-initiated and collaborative research programs.
• Contributes to MA budget planning and manages project budgets.
• Ensures adherence to corporate and healthcare compliance in U.S. interactions.
