Job summary

Expansion International seeks Medical Video Remote Interpreters to connect English-speaking clinicians with Haitian Creole-speaking patients. Fully remote within the US healthcare system, with training provided and no formal interpreting experience required beyond bilingual fluency.

The role requires a private home workspace, a professional camera presence, and alignment with US Eastern Time. Candidates undergo a structured evaluation and foundations training before live sessions.

Qualifications

• Fluent, professional level verbal communication in English and Haitian Creole.
• Understanding of what medical interpreting involves; informal experience acceptable.
• Willingness to complete a medical interpreting proficiency assessment.
• Cultural responsiveness and comfort in US healthcare context.
• Strong reliability and sound judgment with a customer service mindset.
• Comfort using video conferencing platforms and adapting to remote technology.
• Able to pass background and drug screening.
• Dedicated home workspace: private room, locked door, wired internet (no Wi‑Fi).
• Comfortable being on camera for the majority of each shift.
• Based in Dominican Republic or Brazil; available to work remotely with US ET alignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate video interpreting between English and Haitian Creole, with occasional phone sessions.
• Interpret faithfully without adding, omitting, or altering meaning.
• Follow interpreter ethics, standards, and company procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with healthcare privacy requirements.
• Demonstrate cultural responsiveness and respect for patient backgrounds and preferences.
• Maintain professional conduct before, during, and after sessions; use sound judgment.
• Adapt to evolving technology, workflows, and service requirements.
• Participate in required training, coaching, and quality activities.
