Job summary

Expansion International is seeking a Medical Video Remote Interpreter to bridge communication between English-speaking healthcare providers and Ukrainian-speaking patients. Sessions occur on camera, requiring a professional presence and a quiet workspace.

The role is client-facing, sensitive, and demands confidentiality and cultural sensitivity. Candidates undergo an evaluation process and foundations training before live sessions.

Qualifications

• Fluent, professional level verbal communication in English and Bengali.
• Understanding of what medical interpreting involves, from either formal employment or informal experience.
• Ability to interpret medical information accurately and completely in both languages.
• Willingness to complete a medical interpreting proficiency assessment as part of the selection process.
• Cultural responsiveness and comfort working within the US healthcare context.
• Strong professional reliability and sound judgement with a customer service mindset.
• Comfort working with video conferencing platforms and adapting to new remote technology.
• Able to pass background and drug screening.
• Dedicated home workspace: private, distraction-free room with a door that locks and wired high speed internet.
• Comfortable being on camera for the majority of each shift.
• Based in Poland, available to work remotely.
• Note: role requires night shifts aligned with US Eastern Time.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, complete, and respectful video interpreting between English and Ukrainian, with occasional phone sessions.
• Interpret faithfully without adding, omitting, or altering meaning.
• Follow interpreter ethics, standards of practice, and company procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with healthcare privacy requirements.
• Demonstrate cultural responsiveness and respect for diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain professional conduct before, during, and after sessions; use sound judgement.
• Adapt to evolving technology, workflows, and service requirements.
• Participate in required training, coaching, and quality activities.
