Job summary

SYSTEM West Virginia University Health System is seeking a skilled medical coder to ensure accurate documentation and coding across inpatient and outpatient encounters. You will assign ICD-10, CPT, and modifiers, participate in continual education, and support revenue cycle through accurate coding and timely billing.

The role requires a current coding credential (AHIMA or AAPC) and at least two years of medical coding experience; remote work from anywhere in the US is possible.

Qualifications

• Two years of medical coding experience.
• Current HIM/coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and accurately interprets medical record documentation and assigns ICD-10, CPT, or modifiers for diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensures daily coding quality, timely charging and abstraction for assigned specialty areas.
• Maintains up-to-date coding knowledge through trainings, seminars, and reference materials.
