Job summary

Kaleida Health is hiring a coding specialist to handle inpatient and outpatient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and data quality. The role requires RHIT/RHIA credentials within specified timelines and knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and PCS coding systems.

Responsibilities include physician query communication, E/M level calculation, and charge posting, with a commitment to regulatory compliance and data integrity.

Qualifications

• AAS in Health Information Technology (Medical Record Technology) is a minimum requirement.
• BS in Health Information Management/Medical Records preferred.
• RHIT or RHIA certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.
• CCS or CPC certification must be maintained as Kaleida requirement.
• 1 year of ICD-10/PCS/CPT coding in an acute care facility preferred.
• Experience with Windows/Office and basic computer proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient and outpatient records using ICD-10, PCS, and CPT.
• Interact with medical staff for physician queries when documentation is unclear.
• Calculate facility E/M level using designated software and post charges.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and coding guidelines.
