Job summary

Altea Healthcare is seeking a Medical Coding / Education Specialist to improve coding accuracy across post-acute care facilities. You will review records, assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes, and create training materials to enhance documentation and reimbursement.

You will collaborate with clinical and revenue cycle teams to optimize EMR processes, reduce denials, and ensure regulatory compliance. Remote role, preferably in Texas, with compensation of $65,000–$75,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of medical coding experience with post-acute care.
• Must hold Medical Coding Certification (CCS or CPC).
• 3+ years in provider medical group coding in post-acute care settings such as SNFs.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and medical terminology.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; able to work independently.
• Familiarity with EHR systems and coding software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular coding audits to ensure compliance with guidelines and reimbursement policies.
• Develop and deliver training materials and modules on coding guidelines and documentation.
• Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation and coding issues.
• Partner with technology to optimize EMR processes and reduce denials.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and reimbursement practices for post-acute care.
• Review medical records to assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Educate providers on best practices for compliant documentation and coding.
• Lead onboarding and refresher training for new providers.
